Two new heads of division in Capital Markets Supervision department

Two new heads of division have been appointed in the Capital Markets Supervision department, to the Inspections and Systems division and the Supervision of Infrastructure division. Both appointees will begin in their new posts on 1 February 2020.

The new Head of Inspections and Systems is Mikko Heinsalmi. For the past six years Mr Heinsalmi has worked in a variety of capacities within the Bank of Finland and the Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA), developing the FIN-FSA’s systems and supervision.

Inspections and Systems embraces the department’s supervisory work and systems development.

The new Head of Supervision of Infrastructure is Maria Rekola, MBA. Ms Rekola has been working at the FIN-FSA since 2011, initially on supervision of the offering and listing of securities, and after that as a stock exchange supervisor. Prior to joining the FSA, Maria worked as an auditor.

The responsibilities of the Supervision of Infrastructure division include supervision under the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR), which regulates central securities depositories, stock exchanges, transaction reporting and derivatives trading.
